Frequently Asked Questions
AARFF Private Dog Park
Barkin' Bargains
Yes, the Off-Leash Field, Splash Zone and Agility Course are all located outside in a fully fenced area. Our fencing is made of wood and wire (standard rural fencing) and is 4-feet high. Dogs are typically so consumed with their surroundings and the smells that they ignore the perimeter. However, we always advise to keep a close eye on your dog so they don't attempt to go over or under the fencing.
All dogs must remain on-leash when outside of the Off-Leash Field, Splash Zone, and Agility Course. Please leash your dog when travelling between these areas and the barn. Once in the barn, your dog must stay on leash while in the Welcome Centre, Barkin' Bargains shop, and the general corridor. If you added on access to the Ball Pit Bonanza and/or Scent Finding, your dog can be off-leash once inside those areas and the stall door is closed. This is to ensure the safety of our resident horses which may be in the barn during your visit.
As the property is in a rural area, it's generally very quiet. On rare occasions, you may hear neighbouring dogs in the distance. Additionally, we have resident horses, peacocks and chickens in a separate area of the property which you may hear from time to time. Further, construction is being done on the main house during the spring and summer months, so you may hear machinery. If you are concerned about any of these, please reach out to us and we can advise you on the quietest days/times to book your visit.
During your scheduled visit, there will be no other dogs visible on the property. You will be the only booking during your time slot. Our own dogs will be kept inside. We have resident horses, peacocks and chickens in a separate area of the property behind the barn. They may be visible from the Agility Course area, but are not reachable. Occasionally, the horses are brought into their barn stalls so you may see them if you visit the barn; this is why it's important to keep your dog on-leash when in the barn unless in the Ball Pit Bonanza or Scent Finding areas. Rarely, you may see people walking around the property. This is typically if a family member is leaving/coming home, or if our boarder stops by to care for her horses and birds. She may be in the barn during your visit, which again is why it's important to keep your dog on-leash when in the barn unless in the Ball Pit Bonanza or Scent Finding areas. If you are concerned about any of these, please reach out to us and we can advise you on the optimal days/times to book your visit to minimize or avoid these.
We aim to make AARFF as safe as possible for our guests. Despite our best efforts, there are always possibilities for hazards. Our Off-Leash Field is a former horse paddock, which means the ground is very uneven and lumpy. Surely the dogs don't mind, but we caution our human friends to avoid trips, falls or sprains. We also have a variety of wildlife who visit (without bookings!) so you may encounter birds, mice, snakes, frogs, groundhogs, weasels, or other critters. Further, we ask that if you encounter a gap in fencing or other safety hazard, please bring it to our attention as soon as possible so that we can correct it.
We strive to provide all the necessities to make your visit seamless. In our Welcome Centre, you will find various helpful supplies. For the dogs, we have fresh water, toys, and treats. For the humans, we have a mini fridge with beverages, snacks, hand sanitizer, sunscreen, and bug spray. To keep everyone clean, we have paper towels, rags, shoe covers, and a garbage bin.
Not at all! We proudly offer a pay-as-you-go system so that you do not feel locked in to a subscription. However, if you intend to be a regular visitor and would like to inquire about discounted pricing for regular visits, please reach out to us so that we can arrange a special package for you.
For the safety of yourself, your dog, and the farm animals, we kindly ask that you do not pet or interact with our resident horses, peacocks or chickens. These farm animals are boarded with us and out of respect for their owner, we would appreciate you maintaining your distance. Thank you!
